Proclamation -Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month

PROCLAMATION - GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS, gynecologic cancer is the fourth largest cancer killer of women in the United States and more than 80,000 will be diagnosed this year alone; and

WHEREAS, the good health and well-being of women in our state are enhanced as a direct result of efforts to spread awareness about gynecologic cancers and their symptoms and treatments; and

WHEREAS, the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation is partnering with physicians, community partners and media across the country to provide women with the information they need and to promote the importance of additional research into understanding the causes, finding effective screening and prevention strategies, and developing improved therapies for
gynecologic cancers; and

WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to recognize and applaud the valuable role that families and advocates of gynecologic cancer victims play in helping our medical community advance the fight against these diseases; and

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim September 2005, GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH in the state of North Dakota.
