U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after the Trump administration announced a new package of sanctions targeting North Korea's trading partners:
"I've long said that our nation needs to further isolate North Korea's rogue regime, which has continued to flout international rule of law, brutally suppress its people, and directly threaten the United States with nuclear weapons. For too long, Pyongyang has used illicit means to continue supporting its nuclear weapons program and other malign activities. The administration's latest package of sanctions offers an important new tool to crack down on North Korea's financing of their cruel regime. I support these efforts to put maximum pressure on Kim Jong Un and will continue to work in my capacity as chair of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee to ensure that our military can protect the United States from this nuclear threat."
