Congressman Diaz-Balart Statement on Emergency Supplemental

WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today issued the following statement regarding the emergency supplemental funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):

"All of our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. While Florida is also working to recover from Katrina's aftermath, it in no way compares to the devastation and life-and-death struggles of the hundreds of thousands who have fled or been evacuated from the Gulf region. Per President Bush's request, Congress is passing a $10.5 billion emergency supplemental package to give FEMA the immediate funds it needs to better address this horrible situation.

"Clearly, this tragedy has wide-ranging effects on our nation and Congress will move heaven and earth to get the Administration and the Gulf states what they need to clean-up and recover."
