Wicker Supports Trump-Approved Budget

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement on the "Bipartisan Budget Act," which is supported by President Trump and Defense Secretary Mattis:

"Gen. Mattis has been imploring Congress to provide our troops with budget certainty and to end misguided spending cuts that have disproportionately impacted our all-volunteer military. The overwhelming majority of Mississippians support giving our men and women in uniform the resources they need to complete their missions and come home -- a commitment I share. This measure -- which has the full support of President Trump -- does just that. It is for this reason that I support the agreement."

During the White House press briefing on the budget agreement on Wednesday, Gen. Mattis said, "We need Congress to lift the defense spending caps and support a two-year budget agreement for our military. America can afford survival."
