Dear Chairman Walden, Ranking Member Pallone, Chairman Shimkus, and Ranking Member Tonko,

In June of last year the House Committee on Energy and Commerce held a markup on H.R. 3053; the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act. Given the impacts this legislation will have on our constituents, the State of Nevada's Agency for Nuclear Projects developed an important analysis of the bill, which we would like to share to you. This office provides technical expertise and advice to both the Governor and the legislature on issues related to nuclear waste. Their analysis raises a number of concerns about this legislation and its impacts on various Department of Energy programs as well as the state and communities we represent. We thank you for your attention to this important report.
