Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney(R-NY) released the following statement regarding the House passage of the Continuing Resolution to fund the government.

"Predictable and stable funding for US military operations is critical to the security of this nation. Today's Continuing Resolution (CR) includes 659.2 billion in full-year funding for the Department of Defense and a 2.4 percent pay raise for our nation's troops. Importantly, the CR also funds Community Health Centers, and delays harmful cuts to Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospitals. The federal government should not be funded by the CR process. House Republicans passed 12 appropriations bills and passed a budget last September under regular order for the first time since 2010.

Until Democrats in the Senate are willing to negotiate a compromise, our troops, community health centers, veterans, senior's and our neediest citizens will continue to be held hostage.

Supporting today's CR is critical to keeping the federal government open and to the preservation of vital services," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. "I urge the Senate Democrats to stop engaging in political gamesmanship and start working for the American people."
