Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement in response to President Trump's First State of the Union Address:
"President Trump's first State of the Union Address highlighted America's resurgence and successes. Passage of tax reform, cutting needless regulations, and ending the war on energy has restarted our nation's roaring economy. ISIS has been devastated and we have regained our leadership role on the world stage. Our nation is no longer content to lead from behind and our allies and more importantly our adversaries know it. The policies enacted during the last year helped awaken the American spirit and give everyone a sense of pride through shared prosperity. Detractors scoff at the President's accomplishments and will likely oppose his positive agenda for the future because he proposed it, but the fact is millions of Americans are better off today than they were a year ago. I look forward to working with him to help keep Making America Great Again.
The President laid out an ambitious bipartisan agenda to build a safer, stronger and prouder America. I was particularly interested to see the President's plan to remove regulatory barriers to assist in the modernization of our nation's infrastructure, including access to broadband internet. It is the highway of the future and a key to growing North Dakota's economy. My guest for the State of the Union was Tommy Fisher, President of Fisher Industries, which is one of six companies chosen to build a prototype for the border security wall on the southern U.S. border. I was glad to see the President remain committed to tackling the issue of immigration reform. Border security must include a physical barrier to protect our nation and I am glad Fisher Industries could be chosen to build this project."
