US Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) released the following statement after the House voted to pass the FY18 Department of Defense Appropriations Act:
"President Trump, Secretary Mattis, and Chairman Thornberry have all advocated in recent months for the urgent need to increase the readiness of our Armed Forces. I was happy to vote today in favor of a bipartisan bill that fully funds our Department of Defense and gives our troops - Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve - a 2.4% pay raise.
Whether it's combating terrorists, continuing our training programs to defeat ISIS, or ensuring that Israel's missile defense system stays up to date, our global threats are too serious to ignore.
It's our job in Congress to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the resources they need, which is why I voted for the third time to fully fund our troops. It's now my hope that Democrats in the Senate will put the good of our country above politics and send this bill to the president's desk."
