Womack Statement on Federal Funding Extension

Statement

Date: Jan. 18, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after the House voted in favor of another short-term funding extension:

"The House Republican Conference had its hands tied today as we advanced another continuing resolution- this time to ensure funding through February 16. The bill provides a six-year extension for the Children's Health Insurance Program, funds our national defense, and delays arduous Obamacare taxes from taking effect. I am glad to see small victories within, but I have noted countless times that this method of governing is extremely irresponsible. Nevertheless, I refuse to let a government shutdown be the only option and I remain confident that Congress can still find a way to pass long term funding."
