Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to continue funding the federal government, maintain critical military operations and provide a long-term reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement:
"This vote was about taking the responsible action to continue funding the government, including critical support for our armed forces and a long-term reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It's disheartening to me that Democrats would overwhelmingly vote to shut down the government, prioritizing illegal immigrants over American children and the safety of our nation."
