KAPTUR STATEMENT ON HURRICANE KATRINA

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) issued the following statement regarding Hurricane Katrina:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones and everything they own in this terrible catastrophe. The recovery effort from this unthinkable catastrophe will continue in the coming days, months and possibly years. In this mammoth effort, FEMA and the Federal Government in general, must take the most proactive role for alleviating the terrible loss that this entire region has been dealt. As the Federal Government assists in the rebuilding of this devastated region, we must continue to push for an effective response and relief to those affected.

"As the cities of New Orleans, Gulfport, Biloxi and others attempt to regroup and eventually rebuild, the residents of Northwestern Ohio must do what we can to help. Various organizations are assisting in the recovery activities. In this time of great need, we must all reach out to those affected by this enormous tragedy- only together can we overcome, rebuild and look toward the hope of a better tomorrow."
