Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Statement On House Passage Of A Continuing Resolution

Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) released the following statement regarding the House passage of the Continuing Resolution to fund the government.

"While a Continuing Resolution is not the way we should fund the federal government, shutting down the government would have put our men and women in uniform at risk, jeopardized our national security and threatened our readiness capabilities. It is despicable that Democrats led by Senator Schumer are using children's health care and our military personnel as political hostages. If the Democrats truly want to find a solution to DACA (Dreamers) they would come to the table and work with Republicans to come up with a bipartisan solution. Passing today's CR ensures that the government remains open so that necessary services to the American people are preserved and vital funding to the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is sustained for six years. Now, it's time for the Senate to move swiftly and pass this important legislation," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.

Additional Information:

This bill funds CHIP for six years and delays Obamacare taxes that are detrimental to the survival of our small business community. This is the longest CHIP extension to be proposed since the start of the program.
The recent flooding in New York destroyed many homes and lives. The need for funding to continue in the National Flood Insurance Program is imperative for the people of New York.
We have time (until March) to address DACA and should address this important issue in legislation that comprehensively addresses our broken immigration system.
The House has passed 12 appropriations bills to fund the government in September, the Senate has yet to bring the appropriations bills up in committee to be considered for a vote on the floor.
