Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Anti-Semitism Condemns French Market Attack

Statement

Representatives Peter Roskam (R-IL), Nita Lowey (D-NY) Chris Smith (R-NJ), Eliot Engel (D-NY), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ted Deutch (D-FL), Kay Granger (R-TX) and Marc Veasey (D-TX) issued the following statement in response to recent attacks in France against Jewish-owned establishments, including Tuesday's arson attack of a kosher supermarket in Créteil on the anniversary of the 2015 Hyper Cacher attack:

"We are appalled by the arson attack against the Promo Stock kosher supermarket near Paris. As we mark three years since the heinous terrorist attack against a Hyper Cacher that left four civilians dead, we see fresh evidence that despite the French government's commitment to counter radicalization and anti-Semitism, more must be done to ensure the safety and security of France's Jewish community. We call upon French authorities to take swift action to hold perpetrators of this attack accountable."
