Blumenthal Statement on Federal Ruling Overturning Trump Administration Decision to End DACA

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after a federal judge ordered the Trump Administration to halt its wind down of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and resume accepting renewal applications:

"Once again, the courts have been a bulwark for basic rights and the rule of law-- but this reprieve is no final remedy. We must redouble our determination to protect these 800,000 young people from draconian mass deportation, a continuing threat as long as President Trump refuses to reverse his cruel, unconscionable policies. A federal judge has struck down Trump's order as unconstitutional but a Dream Act is no less necessary, and Congress should waste no time in swiftly passing clean legislation to protect these young people."
