Hoyer Statement on Trump Administration's Misleading Immigration "Report"

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the White House's misleading immigration "report" released this morning:

"The Trump Administration's immigration report, which paints a misleading picture of a nation under assault from foreigners seeking to bring terrorism, domestic violence, and economic drain to our country, has one goal: to distract from the President's failure to address the present DACA crisis. The President and Republican leaders in Congress ought not to be holding the lives and livelihoods of DREAMers hostage in exchange for consideration of what would be the most draconian restrictions on legal immigration in a century. The report - along with the President's recent comments - disturbingly parallel racist arguments made about Jewish, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Eastern European immigrants used to justify severe restrictions in the early twentieth century.
