Fischer on Trade Meeting with President Trump

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement today after joining President Donald Trump and other senators at the White House for a meeting focused on U.S. trade policy:

"This afternoon at the White House, I had a good conversation with President Trump on the importance of trade to Nebraska and our country as a whole. During our conversation, I highlighted the significance of NAFTA to agriculture exports and related manufacturing jobs. I also stressed the need to safeguard the competitive advantage our agriculture producers and manufacturers have worked so hard to build. I look forward to continuing these discussions with the president and his administration in the weeks to come."

Additional Background:

In September, Fischer sent a letter to President Trump urging him not to terminate the South Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA).

In May, Senator Fischer led a letter with 18 senators to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer stressing the positive economic impact of NAFTA.
