Today, Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Mr. Balash for Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Land and Minerals Management:

"Mr. Balash is now in a position to overturn the Bureau of Land Management's previous objection to Alaska's claim to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge boundary. We think that is wrong and he should recuse himself."
