Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) today released the following statement following President Trump's decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital:
"The United States and Israel share an unbreakable bond and Israel has long-been our most important ally in the region. Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish homeland. But in the absence of a negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinians, I am concerned that President Trump's action today heightens tensions in the Middle East and could endanger U.S. national security and American interests abroad."
