CONGRESSMAN ADERHOLT STATEMENT ON RISING GAS PRICES

WASHINGTON, DC -- September 2, 2005 -- Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today made the following statement on rising gas prices and their affect on consumers:

"As gas prices continue to rise, hardworking Americans and our valuable industries suffer. A solution must be found.

"This very issue was discussed on a recent conference call with several of my colleagues, and it is clear that gas prices are of immediate concern in Congressional Districts across the nation.

"This is an unusual time and unusual measures should be explored to find a solution. Every option that could bring prices down for consumers should be on the table for discussion, not excluding the option to suspend the Federal Gas Tax. We must also make it known that price gouging will not be tolerated by the Federal Government and should be enforced with the full penalty of the law."
