Oregon's Senator Jeff Merkley released the following statement after Senate Republicans voted on a party-line vote to bring their tax plan to the Senate floor:
"This tax scheme is a staggering bank heist that hurts the majority of Americans to deliver trillions in benefits to the very richest and big corporations. It is a brazen attempt to rig our political system and our economy to work not for "We the People,' but for "We the Powerful.'
"This is a massive raid on our national treasury at the expense of working families--and grassroots America must act with urgency to rise up and stop it before it is too late."
