Griffith Votes to Protect Medicare

Statement

Date: Nov. 2, 2017

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today voted in support of H.R. 849, the Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act. He cosponsored this bill, which was introduced by Congressman Phil Roe (R-TN). Congressman Griffith issued the following statement:

"Obamacare has many flaws, but the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) is among the worst. IPAB gives unelected bureaucrats the power to make arbitrary decisions about cutting Medicare spending. Passing this bill today is a step toward restoring accountability and should give seniors and hospitals dependent on Medicare peace of mind.

"I congratulate my friend Congressman Roe for his tireless work in getting this important bill through the House and I am pleased to join him as a cosponsor."

The House of Representatives passed the Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act by a vote of 307 to 111.
