Letter to the Hon. Susan W. Brooks, the Hon. Ted Deutch, U.S. House of Representatives- Committee on Ethics - Investigate Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Matters

Letter

Date: Nov. 28, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Dear Chairwoman Brooks and Ranking Member Deutch:

Thank you for your bipartisan leadership to uphold the integrity of the House of Representatives.

It is my understanding that the Committee has begun an investigation into public allegations against Congressman John Conyers pursuant to Rule 18(a), which was designed to expedite an inquiry.

We are at a watershed moment for our country in the fight against sexual harassment and discrimination. The Committee on Ethics has a great responsibility to proceed expeditiously as well as fairly into any investigation of credible harassment and discrimination allegations.

As one who served seven years on the Ethics Committee, I know that the demands on staff and resources can at times be overstretched. Should you need any additional resources to fairly and swiftly pursue these investigations, please make that need known.

Thank you for your attention to these urgent matters.

best regards,

NANCY PELOSI

Democratic Leader

Cc: The Honorable Paul Ryan, Speaker
