PROCLAMATION - RETIRED TEACHERS WEEK

AUGUST 29 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2005

WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of North Dakota's teachers have prepared our young people for the opportunities and challenges of their futures; and

WHEREAS, many North Dakotans have dedicated their careers to the teaching profession and to making a difference in the lives of our youth and the future of our state, and for their service, they deserve our respect and appreciation; and

WHEREAS, because of their continued commitment to our youth, North Dakota's retired teachers are working to identify and promote enhancements to the state's educational system, serving as valuable advocates for continued excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, members of the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association and retired teachers throughout our state have earned the recognition and gratitude of all North Dakotans, especially their former students, and continue to have an impact on our citizens and our state; and

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim August 29 - September 2, 2005, RETIRED TEACHERS WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
