Estes Votes to Simplify and Lower Taxes

Statement

Date: Nov. 16, 2017
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) issued the following statement following passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:

"For more than three decades, families have paid a growing cost for our country's increasingly complex and burdensome tax code that's loaded with special interest loopholes. This isn't fair to hardworking Kansans," said Rep. Estes. "That's why today I voted for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."

"The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will make it easy for families to file taxes by doubling the standard deduction. Under this bill, nine out of ten Americans will be able to file their taxes on a form the size of a postcard. Now, a single taxpayer won't pay taxes on their first $12,000 of income and a married couple won't pay on the first $24,000 of their income. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is focused on growing the economy and will allow Kansans to keep more of their hard-earned money."
