PROCLAMATION - TRUCK DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK

WHEREAS, professional truck drivers safely deliver important goods to homes, communities, schools and businesses nationwide, and each year, travel more than 200 billion miles delivering eight billion tons of freight; and

WHEREAS, professional truck drivers have been honored as among the safest drivers on our highways and many have received awards for extraordinary acts of heroism and bravery for saving fellow motorists from injury and death; and

WHEREAS, North Dakota's professional truck drivers are hard working men and women who serve our communities and play an important role in our state's economic stability; and

WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to recognize the millions of men and women in this state and across the country who deliver our goods by truck for a living and help keep our economy going and growing; and

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim August 21-27, 2005, TRUCK DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
