NORTH DAKOTA FARMERS MARKET WEEK
AUGUST 7-13, 2005
WHEREAS, farmers markets are important outlets for providing high quality, farm fresh, nutritional foods; and
WHEREAS, farmers markets serve as links between urban and rural communities, and afford producers and consumers the opportunity to interact; and
WHEREAS, increasing numbers of consumers are discovering the benefits of shopping for unique ingredients sold directly from the farm in their freshest possible state; and
WHEREAS, the development and operation of farmers markets and other direct-to- market marketing activities for agricultural producers are supported and promoted throughout the state, with 11 new farmers markets organized this past year; and
WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to recognize the bountiful production of our farmers and their contributions to our state by providing wholesome, nutritious food; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim August 7-13, 2005, FARMERS MARKET WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
