Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Helps Pass Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act

Statement

Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) voted in support of the Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act (H.R. 849). The bill passed the House with bipartisan support.

The legislation repeals Obamacare's Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), preventing unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats from making changes to Medicare spending with no Congressional oversight, potentially compromising access to health care for the nation's senior citizens.

"Medicare is a lifeline for New York seniors and we must do all we can protect and preserve this vital program. Ceding the future of Medicare to a small number of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats, as Obamacare required, is a deeply flawed approach," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. "Repealing Obamacare's harmful IPAB is a step in the right direction that allows Congress to make decisions that expand choice, flexibility and competition in the Medicare program. As a cosponsor of this legislation, I was pleased to support its passage."
