Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) released the following statement on President Trump's intent to nominate Kirstjen Nielsen for the position of Secretary of Homeland Security:

"I'm very pleased President Trump selected Kirstjen Nielsen as the nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security. From cybersecurity to radical Islamist extremism, we live in a world of rapidly evolving threats, and I'm grateful for the wealth of experience Ms. Nielsen brings to this position. In addition to her previous experience at DHS under multiple administrations, Kirstjen's work as a fellow at George Washington University's Center for Cyber and Homeland Security, as well as her strong focus on critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity and emergency preparedness, make me confident in her ability to carry out DHS' important mission. As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, I look forward to working together with Kirstjen over the coming years to help safeguard our nation."
