Statement on Indictment of Trump Advisers

Statement

Date: Oct. 30, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

After special prosecutor, Robert Mueller, issued criminal indictments for two of President Trump's campaign advisers, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, as well as a plea deal for George Papadopoulos, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement:

"A special prosecutor and congressional inquiries have revealed criminal actions by Trump's advisers, but preserving democracy requires full transparency. After Michael Flynn resigned in February, I called for an outside, independent investigation into Russian interference in last year's election. We should not be in a position where President Trump can undermine those charged with uncovering the truth about Russian interference in our elections."
