Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte released the following statement following House passage of the Senate-passed fiscal year 2018 budget resolution, paving the way for tax reform:
"Today, the House took another step to deliver on our promise of tax reform that will grow our economy, create more Montana jobs, and provide bigger paychecks to hard-working Montanans," Congressman Gianforte said. "Our economy has sputtered for the last decade, and reforming America's anti-growth tax code will accelerate economic opportunities and growth. Over the last ten years, Montana's families have had a hard time making ends meet, but with tax reform, they will be able to keep more of their hard-earned money, get relief for the rising costs of raising their children, and be able to better prepare for retirement."
"While this budget provides us with a way forward to tax reform, it isn't perfect. The House recently passed a budget that would balance in ten years, but the Senate's budget doesn't balance. The fact is Washington has a spending problem," Gianforte said. "I will continue working to reform Washington and rein in out-of-control federal spending, which is one reason I support a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution."
