Titus Statement on Trump Ending Cost Sharing Reduction Payments

Statement

Date: Oct. 13, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada's First Congressional District released the following statement after President Donald Trump announced that he will end Cost Sharing Reduction payments for health care plans purchased in health care marketplaces during this year's open enrollment period.

"Trump's actions will steal some $40 million from Nevada and affect plans for about 60 percent of consumers in the state who buy plans on the exchange and benefit from CSRs. This will upend the lives of sick and at-risk Americans, rattle the nation's insurance market, and hike the uninsured rate by one million people. Costs to the federal government will skyrocket along with premiums for working families. Trump will now have to own up to his actions when Americans ask why he took away their health care."
