Luján Statement on House Passage of the Republican Budget

Statement

Date: Oct. 26, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) today released the following statement after the House voted on the Republican budget plan which paves the way for the GOP billionaires-first tax plan:

"Today I voted against a reckless Republican budget proposal that hurts seniors and families by promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act, cutting Medicare by almost $500 billion and Medicaid by nearly $1 trillion.

The budget also hurts workers, college students and kids by slashing vital investments in infrastructure, Pell Grants, and Head Start -- all in order to fast track fiscally irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthiest, while raising taxes on the middle class."
