Rep. Garamendi's Statement on Department of Interior's Decision to Withhold Support From the Twin Tunnels Project

Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Davis, Fairfield, Yuba City), who served as Deputy Secretary of the Interior under President Bill Clinton and represents 200 miles of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, issued the following statement in response to the Department of Interior's decision to withhold federal support from the twin tunnels project:

"Today's announcement that the Department of Interior does not support California WaterFix is another nail in the coffin of the twin tunnels. The twin tunnels have always been a death threat to the Delta and San Francisco Bay, as well as a wasteful boondoggle. It is time that California move forward with a solution that will actually create new water and work for the entire state."
