Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement in response to an announcement that FEMA has issued a major disaster declaration for parishes affected by Hurricane Harvey.

"This disaster declaration for Louisiana is righteous and long overdue. The Parishes of Southwest Louisiana experienced major damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure that extend beyond the capabilities of state and local government. My office has worked tirelessly to highlight this need, ensuring that Louisiana isn't absent from the conversation about hurricane relief. I'm thankful that President Trump and his administration have been responsive to our constant outreach. Thanks to this decision, the patriots of South Louisiana will have access to the resources they need to rebuild and recover."
