Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today named House Democrats to serve on a conference committee of the House and Senate versions of the FY 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
"Democrats stand for a strong and smart national defense," said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. "Unfortunately, Republicans are sending a defense authorization bill to conference that fails to honor our obligations to our men and women in uniform. Once again, Republicans are using their tired old budgetary sleight-of-hand to unleash massive uncertainty in the defense budget, which will devastate the ability of the Defense Department and military families to plan and prepare for the future."
"Amid today's turmoil and rising international challenges, Congress has a duty to provide the resources needed to keep the American people safe and our military strong," continued Leader Pelosi. "Our Democratic conferees will fight to ensure our armed forces are prepared to meet the challenges of our time and will fight any reckless, backhanded Republican attempts to devastate our defense or our budget."
