Proclamation - Community Health Center Week

WHEREAS, Community Health Centers are private, non-profit corporations providing quality, affordable, comprehensive primary health care to medically underserved citizens at sites in Beulah, Center, Halliday, Fargo, Turtle Lake, Rolette, McClusky, Northwood, Larimore and Grafton; and

WHEREAS, these centers provide a valuable service by improving access to quality health care in areas that had previously been unserved or underserved, promoting individual responsibility and health awareness in the communities, and offering quality primary preventive health care services to reduce preventable deaths and costly disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Community Health Centers are a vital part of North Dakota's health care system, maintaining a high standard of accountability, empowering communities to develop programs to meet the specific needs of their citizens, strengthening communities to enhance opportunities for children and families, and providing health care services in accessible
environments; and

WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to recognize Community Health Centers throughout the state for their important contributions to the provision of primary health care services and for their dedication to enhancing the quality of life for our citizens; and

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim August 7-13, 2005,

COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
