Friend,
I wanted to update you on my work to enhance and protect important, critical habitats and ecosystems.
One of the most vital federal programs for conserving the wildlife habitat and protecting our environment is the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA). NAWCA establishes a public-private grant program for the protection, restoration, and management of wetland habitat. Every dollar of federal government spending must be matched by one dollar or more from non-federal sources and state fish and wildlife agencies. Since 1989, conservation partners have leveraged the federal share of NAWCA with over $3.44 billion in partner funds.
NAWCA is a program that works. I introduced legislation to reauthorize funding for NAWCA for five years. That means five more years of smart investments in our wetland habitat for the use and enjoyment of future generations.
Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime an issue that concerns you comes before the House of Representatives.
It's an honor to serve you and Virginia's First District in the People's House.
Sincerely,
Rob
