Good News For Sportsmen

Friend-

As a gun owner and lifelong sportsman, I am committed to supporting legislation focused on advancing the priorities of our nation's sportsmen and defending our rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

The House Natural Resources Committee, which I sit on, recently passed H.R. 3668, the Sportsmen Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act. Introduced by my friend Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC), the SHARE Act takes long overdue steps towards increasing access to federal lands and protecting our Second Amendment Rights and other major priorities for sportsmen across America.

Far too often federal red tape limits the ability of law-abiding Americans to enjoy traditional sporting activities. This sportsmen's package gives states authority on how to allocate funds used for recreational shooting ranges, habitat preservation, and protections for persons transporting firearms across state lines.

Consistency in federal regulation is another priority of the bill. Allowing sportsmen to concealed carry on land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, traditionally used for sporting activities, creates consistency in federal firearm regulation that currently allows individuals to concealed carry in National Parks, provided they follow the laws of the state. The package also includes the Hearing Protection Act, eliminating a $200 tax on suppressors and streamlining the purchase process expands the health and safety benefits of such equipment to the law-abiding, gun owning community at large.

I'm proud to support this legislation that sensibly rolls back undue federal regulations and enhances the outdoor sporting heritage so important to millions of Americans. I look forward to voting in favor of the SHARE Act again when it comes to the House floor.

Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime an issue that concerns you comes before Congress.

Sincerely,
Rob
