Protecting Our Communitites

Dear Friend -

Like you, I believe Congress should empower law enforcement and members of the community to keep each other safe. Therefore, I wanted to keep you updated on work I'm doing in this critical area.

I recently met with the Mattaponi Crime Solvers group in King William, Virginia on Law Enforcement Appreciation Night! This group of about 10-12 civilian members support the communities of King & Queen and King William counties as well as the city of West Point. They assist local law enforcement by encouraging rewards for tips of crimes. We mainly discussed what I am doing in Washington to support first responders and law enforcement.

Just last month, the House passed a series of bills, with my support, to empower federal agencies and law enforcement to combat human trafficking. Specifically, H.R. 2480, the Empowering Law Enforcement to Fight Sex Trafficking Demand would enable law enforcement agencies to compete for federal funding, specifically to develop and carry out programs that fight sex trafficking demand.

My continued commitment to you is that I will do all I can to make sure our law enforcement personnel - firefighters, first responders, police officers, and volunteers - have the tools, resources, and training necessary to keep themselves and our communities safe. Although we can never quite do enough to fully thank and show our appreciation to them, I will continue to support all those who serve our communities.

Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime an issue that concerns you comes before the House.

It's an honor to serve you and Virginia's First District in the People's House.

Sincerely,
Rob
