Titus Statement on Trump Administration's Review of DACA

Statement

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada's First Congressional District responded to reports that the Trump Administration may end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

"President Trump once promised compassion for DREAMers, but now his administration is signaling that it may upend their lives. Ending DACA appeals to xenophobic beliefs and goes against the founding principles of our nation. Since 2012, DACA has helped more than 13,000 DREAMers in Nevada go to school, get jobs, and build our community. Now their futures are uncertain in the very place they call home. Any measure to end DACA would cut the state's GDP by hundreds of millions each year and cost the nation billions to deport DREAMers. Since 2010, Republicans have avoided voting on bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform and bills I have co-sponsored to protect DACA recipients and other immigrants. In my district, immigrants are more than just business owners, students, and doctors. They are friends, family, and a valuable part of the community that deserves to live out of the shadows."
