Walberg Votes for Sweeping Expansion of Veterans' GI Bill Benefits

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Education Assistance Act, which improves and extends GI Bill benefits granted to veterans, their surviving spouses, and dependents. H.R. 3218 contains a number of significant reforms to help veterans, including removing the 15-year limit to use the GI Bill and enabling future eligible recipients to use their benefits at any point in their lives. The bipartisan bill passed the House by a 405-0 vote.

"We have a duty to help our nation's service members make a seamless transition from the battlefield back into civilian life," said Congressman Walberg. "As America's veterans enter this new chapter, a key part of upholding our commitment is providing quality and accessible educational opportunities. Modernizing and expanding the GI Bill will open more doors for veterans to build a rewarding and successful future in whatever career path they pursue after military service."
