Cotton Statement on Iran Deal Recertification

Statement

Date: July 18, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement after the State Department recertified Iran's compliance with the nuclear deal:

"I disagree with this certification. Iran is not complying with the nuclear agreement, and granting Iran a full slate of sanctions relief is certainly not vital to U.S. national security. However, I welcome the new sanctions the Trump administration has issued against Iranian entities. As the Trump administration completes its Iran policy review, my hope is that this is a prelude to even tougher measures to push back against Iran's sponsorship of terrorism, pursuit of illicit weapons, and imperial ambitions."
