Fischer Meets with Director of Missile Defense Agency

Statement

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, chairman of the Senate subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement today after meeting with Lieutenant General Sam Greaves, the Director of the Missile Defense Agency:

"It was good to meet with Lieutenant General Greaves today in his new role as Director of the Missile Defense Agency. We discussed the ongoing Ballistic Missile Defense Review at the Department of Defense as well as the Missile Defense Agency's priorities for the future, especially as our country confronts the evolving threats from North Korea. As chairman of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, I will continue to work closely with Lieutenant General Greaves to ensure the U.S. has a strong and capable missile defense program."

The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces has oversight over the U.S. homeland missile defense system. The Senate version of the FY 18 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which was approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee in June, strengthens this system and authorizes additional funding to further improve its capabilities.
