U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement today after reports that the U.S. military successfully brought down a mock ballistic missile over the Pacific:
"The successful test today is a victory for our nation's missile defense program. It demonstrates our military's impressive capabilities to defend our country from the many threats we face from around the world. Recent events in North Korea make it unequivocally clear that other nations continue to pursue ballistic missile technology to threaten U.S. interests and our homeland. As these threats evolve, our defenses must follow suit. As the chairman of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, I'm committed to ensuring we have a strong missile defense system that will deter our adversaries and protect our people."
