Suozzi Statement on Shooting at Republican Baseball Practice

Today, Congressman Tom Suozzi issued the following statement on the shooting at the Republican team baseball practice.

"This morning, I was practicing with other members of the Democratic baseball team when reports flooded in about a shooting at the Republican baseball practice. We stopped practice, took shelter in the dugout and said a prayer for our Republican colleagues, many of whom I'm fortunate to call my friends.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Rep. Steve Scalise, Capitol Police officers and everyone else who was injured in today's senseless act of violence, as well as their families. As we collectively hope for their speedy recoveries, this is a time to come together and remember that far more unites us than divides us.

"There are no Democrats or Republicans today -- just Americans."
