Suozzi, Problem Solvers Caucus Vote to Avoid Government Shutdown

Today, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D -- Long Island, Queens), who serves as Vice-Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, announced that Congress overwhelmingly passed the Omnibus Appropriations package to avoid a government shutdown. This action solidified the first big win of this legislative session for the Problem Solvers Caucus, which consists of 22 Democrats and 22 Republicans working together to get things done.

"This is a great day, not only for the Problem Solvers Caucus, but more importantly for the American people. Today's bipartisan vote to keep the government open shows what's possible when we set aside partisan politics to actually get things done.

"This compromise will protect the Long Island Sound, provide funding for the Bethpage Plume and help defense and aeronautics contractors that provide good-paying jobs in our district. Let this be a springboard for the Problem Solvers Caucus to work together on other important issues like tax reform and infrastructure," said Congressman Suozzi.

The federal government is now properly funded through the remainder of Fiscal Year 2017, which concludes in September.
