Congressman Andy Biggs Applauds House Passage of Border Wall Funding

Statement

Today, Congressman Andy Biggs voted in favor of H.R. 3219, the Make America Secure Appropriations Act, which includes $1.57 billion for physical barrier construction along the southern border. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement:

"As an Arizona native, I have made frequent trips to the Arizona border. In a dangerous world, it is incomprehensible to me and my constituents how our nation's borders remain so unsecure. I have talked to Border Patrol agents and ranchers along the border throughout the years, including in recent months. They have urgently requested the construction of a border wall. President Trump, myself, and many Members of Congress committed to the American people that the border wall would be built.

"Today, with this House vote, Congress has taken the first significant step to build the wall.

"A border wall is vital to national security, but we should not stop there. We must pave roads along the border for our agents to easily patrol, increase the number of Border Patrol agents in our service, and improve technology at the border. Only then, will we have a secure border. Government's fundamental priority is to protect its citizens, and Congress is rising to that challenge with this vote. I was pleased to support this bill and the funding amendment."
