House Passes Bill Strengthening Career and Technical Education

Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Vista) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, to improve educational options for students nationwide.

The bipartisan legislation will help many -- especially young Americans -- enter the workforce with practical knowledge and skills they need to compete for good-paying, in-demand jobs in industries critical to the nation's economy.

"Today's in-demand jobs look vastly different from the jobs of even just a generation ago," said Congressman Darrell Issa. "Our economy is changing every day, so it's critically important we update educational opportunities to match. Through enhanced career technical training options in high school and beyond, we can provide young workers with the tools and training they need to be workforce and career ready from day one. This bill will provide the most valuable tools we have to fight unemployment -- training and education for jobs in high-demand fields. "
