Luján Statement on Trump Administration's Second Attempt to Ban Muslims and Refugees

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) issued the following statement on President Trump's second attempt to issue an Executive Order to ban Muslims and refugees:

"After a series of federal court rulings in which his first un-American Muslim ban was found to be unconstitutional and was overturned, President Trump is attempting to again push forward with his misguided policies."

"Most disturbing, the President seems to be ignoring advice from experts within his own administration who suggested this Muslim ban would not keep Americans more safe or secure. Last month, an internal Department of Homeland Security memo concluded that citizenship from the targeted countries was an "unlikely indicator' for terror threats within the United States, contradicting President Trump's claims that his Muslim ban will protect Americans from acts of terrorism."
