Womack Statement on Passage of H.R. 3364, the Russia, Iran, and North Korea Sanctions Act

Statement

Date: July 25, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released today the following statement after the passage of H.R. 3364, the Russia, Iran, and North Korea Sanctions Act:

"I commend my fellow colleagues for passing H.R. 3364, the Russia, Iran, and North Korea Sanctions Act. I believe Congress' most fundamental duty is to provide for the common defense of the nation, and to that end, this critical piece of legislation sends a powerful message to North Korea, Iran, and Russia through the imposition of sanctions. These three countries have unrepentantly and repeatedly undermined global stability and ignored international law. Since February of this year, the Kim Jong Un regime has tested more than a dozen missiles in violation of existing U.N. Security Council resolutions. Iran still provides unwavering support to terrorist organizations and proliferates its weapons arsenal. And Russia continues to threaten the stability of Europe and NATO by its actions in the Crimean peninsula.

We cannot allow these regimes to continue to threaten the United States and our allies, and I am proud to have supported the passage of this bill."
